It’s been a busy last few weeks for me with a lot of meetings with local partners, working with the America Walks Fellowship, training for this weekend’s sprint triathlon, and listening to the ideas folks have to gain support for our mission. It’s indeed the job that keeps on giving and keeps me motivated. Here are some updates from those meetings and also a list of events coming up to help you stay involved:- Petition: Tell Our Elected Officials: People on Bikes are Dying in Our Streets – Currently our petition has 969 signatures (20 signatures gathered in person during the Justice for Peedy Ride to City Hall last Thursday) – If you haven’t signed the petition, it is not too late. We are sending an update to our Elected Officials next week, and plan to continue putting pressure on them to do something about this crisis. The more signatures and comments we receive, the more weight our petition will have, so sign here. If your organization would like to send a Letter of Support, you can send one to allene@bikeeasy.org Thank y’all who have signed and sent letters of support so far.
- Feasibility Study for the I-10 Service Roads in New Orleans East – We’ve attended the 2 community meetings in New Orleans East for this study, and encourage folks who live, work, or have other regular activity alongside the I-10 service Roads located between Dwyer Road and the vicinity of Paris Road to fill in this survey for feedback. Your input is important to the success of the study.
- Bikes on Amtrak Feedback – Amtrak is currently seeking feedback on your experience (good or bad) taking bikes on Amtrak. As we hear of more cuts coming, it is important to give them feedback so they can improve their services,. Click here for survey.
I want to also thank everyone that has reached out with encouraging words for our current work – it has been inspiring.
