Bike Easy works to make bicycling easy, safe, and fun for everyone in Greater New Orleans.
Who We Are
Bicycling has deep roots in Greater New Orleans’ history. We represent all people who ride or would like to ride bicycles in Greater New Orleans.
Our Vision
Bike Easy believes in the power of bicycling to help create a healthy, prosperous, resilient, and equitable future for all people of the region. We envision safe, convenient transportation options for everyone and the freedom to get around easily. We aim to share the joy of bicycling and make it an easy choice for everyone. We also know that streets safe for bicycling are safe for walking and vice versa. We imagine a future where people of all ages and abilities can bike, walk, and take transit safely, whoever they are and wherever they live.
Our Strategy
Our current strategic plan aims to center equity into our previous Strategic Plan (2017 -2020).

With the uncertainty and difficulties of 2020, Bike Easy delayed the process for updating our strategic plan and extended the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan through 2023.
An updated plan was developed collaboratively by Board, staff, Members, and stakeholders during 2021 through 2023.
Bike Easy Equity & Social Justice Statement
Bike Easy believes in creating a region where bicycling is safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of race, income, age, gender, ability, or neighborhood. We acknowledge that transportation access has historically been distributed unequally due to systemic racism, classism, ableism, and other structural inequities.
In Greater New Orleans, the impacts of these injustices remain visible. Communities of color, especially Black communities, experience higher rates of traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities due to historically uneven investments in infrastructure. Additionally, mobility for these communities has often been limited by inequitable enforcement and policy decisions.
Bike Easy commits to:
- Accessibility for All Ages and Abilities: Advocating for streets and infrastructure designed to meet the needs of people of all ages and abilities.
- Equitable Investment: Using data to prioritize and advocate for infrastructure improvements in historically underserved neighborhoods.
- Inclusive Leadership and Representation: Working to ensure our staff, volunteers, and participants reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
- Community Engagement and Empowerment: Listening, collaborating, and partnering with local communities to amplify voices of historically marginalized communities in transportation advocacy.
We recognize that meaningful equity work requires continuous reflection, learning, and adjustment. Bike Easy is committed to this ongoing journey, working toward a future where all people experience the freedom, dignity, and joy of moving safely through their community.
