After three long years of waiting, Bike Easy is glad to announce another successful Bicycle Second Line that took place on September 24th!

Local advocacy groups, families, and residents of New Orleans took to the streets to complete a 10-mile trek across the city accompanied by live music from the Get Up Brass Band to keep spirits and energies high. The ride started at the Lafitte Greenway Plaza, and meandered through the Bayou St. John, Tremé, French Quarter, Marigny, CBD, and Mid-City, before ending near City Park. The Bicycle Second Line concluded with an afterparty at Second-Line Brewing Company to celebrate the ride’s success and completion.

Before the ride commenced, Bike Easy staff offered bicycle maintenance, valet services, as well as a bicycle rodeo course for younger riders.

Bike Easy’s Bicycle Second Line was a huge success with a count of 269 people on bikes braving the heat to participate in this magnificently fun event. Attendees on bicycles included folks from all walks of life and ages that make up New Orleans’ diverse bicycle community.

The Second Line’s success owes itself to the volunteers, organizations, and businesses that donated time, money, and supplies to support the event.

Bike Easy volunteers and members were essential and provided much needed help to make this year’s Bicycle Second Line flow smoothly. T-shirts were given out to those members assisting with the coordination of the event and getting people on bikes checked-in for the ride.

The Bicycle Second Line was a free event for New Orleans’ bike community that was supported through donations by LCMC Health, Dashing Bicycles, Bike Law Louisiana, Property One Inc., New Orleans Bicycle Club, Friends of the Lafitte Greenway, Palmares Cycling, NORD Commission, Louisiana Seafood Marketing Board, Augie Leopold Promotional Products, amongst many others.

Refreshments, raffle schwag, glitter, and post-ride massaging was provided by Level Water, Masseys Professional Outfitters, Hotel Peter & Paul, The Pedal Shop, Pixie Dust, and NOLA Stretch & Recovery.

Bike Easy would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in this year’s Bicycle Second Line to make it a memorable and fun event.
