New Orleans’ Walk & Roll Pizza Party Kickoff

Help Bike Easy kick off New Orleans’ Youth Walk & Roll week with a pizza party celebration on Sunday, October 1st, from 4:30 to 7pm on the Lafitte Greenway! We will have refreshments and also be operating a Bike Rodeo practice course. The pizza party will be followed by a safety workshop and family bike ride.
Participants will learn best practices, rules of the road, basic maintenance, life-saving bike handling techniques, properly fitting a helmet, as well as other useful information.
This workshop is for kids who are able to ride a bike and ready to take to the paths and roadways with their parents (suggested grade range 2nd-6th). DON’T KNOW HOW TO RIDE A BIKE? No problem! Bike Easy will also be offering a Youth Learn to Ride instruction throughout the event. We will help parents/ guardians learn techniques to help their child safely ride a bicycle and build confidence.
The event includes instruction on:
– fitting a helmet
– performing a bike safety check
– communicating with other road users
– riding in a straight line and avoiding obstacles
– performing a bike safety check

– as well as navigating safely through intersections, all while playing fun games!
The event will conclude with a group family bike ride along the Lafitte Greenway. Each child will receive a free set of bike lights and an activity book.
This event is a great way for bike riding families too connect with other families and the greater New Orleans community of bicyclists. Please RSVP for the event! See you there!
***All minors must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Families are encouraged to bring their own working bikes and helmets. Please let us know if you need a bike or helmet provided and we will do our best to accommodate. We will have a limited supply of bikes and helmets for the Youth Learn to Ride portion of the event***
