We also hosted our End of Year Membership Party at Bayou Bicycles and had a great time catching up with our supporters! We:

- Gave our Board Updates including the announcement of our new officers:
- Carlos Stich – President
- David Lee Simmons – Vice President
- Dana Trosclair – Treasurer
- Greg Doolittle – Secretary
- Said Goodbye to a couple Board Members terming out: Elyse Bejasa and Andrew Owens (Thank you for all your years in service!)
- Honored Laura Harris who is moving on to working full time at Safe Routes Partnership – Join me in congratulating her in her new role by dropping her a sweet message at laura@bikeeasy.org – While she remains as a Consultant with our organization, we may not see her as much.
- Presented our 2025 Bike Easy Awards:
- Volunteer of the Year – Stacie Henderson – Previous Board Member and steady supporter of our Bike Valet events!
- Community Partner Award – The Broadside – This amazing venue and team have been such great partners for our work and the growth of our events over the years, it was time to acknowledge it!
- Peter Duffy Bennett Policy Advocate Award – Mike Ince – Previous Board Member and a great supporter of our fight for safer streets. He’s played a key role in helping us grow our Safer St Claude Campaign in the last year!
- Lagniappe Award – New this year for Outstanding League Cycling Instructor – Rachel Smigielski – For years, Rachel has done an outstanding work teaching and supporting our Education programming, we were happy to recognize her!
- Bike Easy Award – the catchall, highest and best award for an individual or organization who’s been outstanding for biking – Eric Gabourel – His critical role in the community since the publication of the Vieux Carre plan for the Quarter and his tireless work to bring back and grow Critical Mass has played a vital role in bringing awareness to the need for safer streets for all!

And before I forget, I wanted to give you an update on my stolen bike: Unfortunately, to date, it has not been recovered, but our dear friend Charlie Thomas replaced it! In his own words: “You can’t be without a bike with all the riding I do for the community throughout the year!”. I am very grateful for this generosity!
