Greetings!

This summer, the Bike Easy Board of Directors announced the launch of an Executive Director search to identify the next leader of the organization. After an extensive search process led by members of the Board Transition Committee, we are pleased to announce that Allene La Spina has been selected as Executive Director.

The Board Transition Committee received nearly 100 inquiries and 45 applications from candidates across the country. Over the past six months, the committee conducted a rigorous and thorough process of reviewing these applications and holding multiple stages of interviews with a number of well-qualified candidates. Bike Easy staff also participated and provided feedback during various stages of this process.

With significant consideration given to the skills and expertise needed to successfully guide Bike Easy in its next phase of growth, the Board of Directors fully supports Allene La Spina to serve in this important leadership role. Allene’s previous positions as Program & Operations Manager, Deputy Director, and Acting Executive Director at Bike Easy- and a nearly ten-year history of working in marketing and sales – have distinguished her as a locally recognized leader. Allene’s leadership skills in cultivating community partnerships, commitment to social justice, and experience with the organization’s partners and funders make her an exceptional individual in the role. We are confident that under her leadership, the organization’s success and impact in achieving its mission and vision will continue to flourish.

Please join us in welcoming Allene as Executive Director by making a donation and showing your support for Bike Easy’s new leadership! Your financial support helps us accomplish our important work, and your donation today will help usher in an exciting new chapter for the organization. You can also send your congratulations to Allene by posting on Bike Easy’s TwitterFacebook or Instagram.

We are grateful to the other members of the Transition Committee (Traci Birch, Andrew Owens, Barrie Black, and Greta Cappelmann), KM Consulting as well as the full board, staff, partners, and the New Orleans community for your engagement and support throughout this important process.

Also important to note as Bike Easy begins its next chapter, there is much to be excited about as we continue innovating, strategizing, and strengthening our commitment to make bicycling easy, safe, and fun for everyone in Greater New Orleans. Board and staff have been busy developing the organization’s 2023-2026 strategic plan, planning for the installation of incoming Board President Greta Cappelmann, and coordinating community like the 2023 Bicycle Second Line. Stay tuned!

We thank you all for your continued support and partnership! Until the next time we ride, be well and be safe!!

Regards,
Melissa Lee
