Wrapping up the Bike Easy April Challenge

The Bike Easy April Challenge 2021, powered by Entergy, marked our 10th year celebrating Bike to Work day and our 5th month-long Challenge on the LoveToRide platform.

Here’s some stats from this year’s challenge: 87 organizations joined, with 21 joining for their first time; 962 individuals  registered, including 418 people new to the Challenge; 157 people joined as “new riders”; 75,571 miles were ridden over 7,175 trips. We’re excited to add these to our all time stats!

Thanks for joining, and thanks to our sponsors at Entergy, Bike Law Louisiana, Fenstermaker, and Regions Bank! See you for next year’s challenge.

Bike Infrastructure Workshop – Tues, 5/18 6-7pm

Thanks to Bike Easy Members, we’ve been able to advocate for bike safety infrastructure, and now there’s lots of exciting changes coming to New Orleans’ streets! Join Bike Easy’s certified instructors for this virtual workshop, which will cover the different types of bike infrastructure you’ll see on the streets, as well as how to safely navigate these bikeways whether biking, walking or driving.
We’ll also give some updates on new complete streets infrastructure around the city.

Adult Learn to Ride Class – Sun, 5/23 10am-12pm

Another thing Bike Easy Members enable us to do is to spread the joy of biking to everyone in Greater New Orleans. That’s why we’re hosting the Adult Learn to Ride Class for people over the age of 15 years old who never learned to ride. We have a suggested donation of $50 for a 2-hour class.

Upcoming Complete Streets Activation Events

The New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition, of which we’re an Executive Committee Member, gave out 10 Complete Streets Activation Mini Grants. These mini grants are supporting local organizations and leaders to put on events raising awareness around the benefits of Complete Streets. Click here to see which events are coming up and RSVP to them (P.S. There’s a lot of great bike rides happening!).

Screens for Good T-shirts

Bike in style this May with our newest #BikeNOLA t-shirt, in partnership with Screens for Good. Half of all proceeds will go to Bike Easy, so you can look good and support better biking in Greater New Orleans at the same time.

Volunteer Opportunities

We know not everyone can support Bike Easy financially, especially during these still difficult times. If you want to be a part of making biking easy, safe, and fun in Greater New Orleans in other ways, then sign up to volunteer today!

If you’d like to know more information about a specific experience, feel free to reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Dana, at dana@bikeeasy.org! As always, we appreciate your continued support.
