As the Education Programs Assistant, you will:
- Work collaboratively with the Education and Policy Manager to implement all aspects of Bike Easy’s bicycle education and safety programming.
- Assisting in coordinating with schools and community partners across Greater New Orleans, maintaining accurate and timely records of program implementation, assisting with community outreach and communication, and performing other administrative related duties as requested (data entry, program evaluation, etc).
- Continue to develop and deliver a curriculum that includes on-bike training geared towards students of all ages. These programs give participants the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and confidently get around by bicycle.
- Teach bicycle skills and safety to students by setting up drills, helping with class management, and coaching students.
- Maintain Bike Easy’s youth bike fleet and program equipment, and rent vehicles used to transport bikes and program equipment.
Expectations:
Desired official start date: October 2024
Hourly rate: $20 per hour
This is a grant-based independent contractor position. You will be expected to work on average 8-10 hours a week, with hours dependent upon programming demands.
Opportunity to expand work hours with increased grant funding.
Ideal qualifications:
- Based in Greater New Orleans
- Strong administrative skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certified or on-track to certification
- Experience teaching and working with youth
- Proficient in Excel
- Skilled in basic bicycle maintenance
