Samuel Spencer

I am a native Mississippian, educated in the Jackson Public School system and at the University of Mississippi. Following graduation from Ole Miss Law School, I had a 25 year career in public service and retired in 2012. During my professional career I lived in several large cities on the east and west coasts, and I now reside in the Faubourg Marigny.

It was my honor to be Board Chair of the Friends of Lafitte Greenway at the time of the project’s groundbreaking in 2014. And for the last six years, I have been a film screener for the New Orleans Film Society, helping to choose films for each year’s New Orleans Film Festival.

My primary means of transportation are biking, walking, and transit; I have not owned a car in over twenty years. I have previously served Bike Easy as a member of its policy committee and as an occasional volunteer. I am a League Cycling Instructor and have lobbied for active transportation in both the Senate and Congress as part of the National Bike Summit in 2015.

I have completed a dozen marathons and am a dedicated member of the 504th Run Crew, which can be found running the streets of New Orleans every Tuesday night.
