NOLA to Angola, in collaboration with Getupnridenola and Rubarb Community Bike Shop, is excited to announce their 1st annual Cookout and Prison Justice Ride on April 7th!

This event is a fundraiser for four local organizations: Women With A Vision, Congreso, VOTE, and the First 72+. It begins with an 8-mile social ride that leaves City Park’s Shelter 1 at 10:00 AM and meanders through the city, with breaks where partner organizations will share information about their work.

The ride will return to Shelter 1 followed by a cookout! Representatives from various prison justice organizations, including OPPRC, Ubuntu Village, Books 2 Prisoners, the Promise of Justice Initiative, the Juror Project, and Crescent Care, will be present for information and conversation. Bike games for kids, a free raffle, and face painting will also be part of the festivities.

This ride is open to children and people of all abilities; you are also welcome to join for the cookout celebration in the park if you do not participate in the bike ride. The cookout will start around 1:00 PM.

Any extra money from sliding scale ($0-$100) registration fees will also be donated to these four organizations. You can find each organization’s mission statement on the NOLA to Angola website.
