Ride with the Music
Join Bike Easy at our signature Bicycle Second Line, a pedal-powered version of the famous, musical second line parades that wind through New Orleans streets during the year. Live music by Egg Yolk Jubilee will lead the parade!
This year is Bike Easy’s 15th anniversary and we want to celebrate with everyone in New Orleans!
To make this year special we are encouraging folks to pick a theme and bring your krewe dressed to impressed. Bike Easy board members and staff krewe will be rocking party hats and balloons to let New Orleans know we’re here to celebrate. The best-dressed krewe will get their first round on us at Second Line Brewing and a feature in our June newsletter.
We want to see your zany, your funky, your unique. What will set your krewe apart from the rest?
May is Membership Month! We encourage everyone who participates to become a Bike Easy Member. The first 100 members to arrive/sign-up receive a free t-shirt!
Anyone Can Participate in the Ride & After Party
As a parade around the city, anyone can participate. Dust off that bike, fill up those tires and meet us in City Park to be escorted around New Orleans by a rolling brass band. We hope to see you and your family and friends for this fun ride through the City.
Afterward, celebrate bicycling with Bike Easy at Second Line Brewing! There will be food trucks, delicious Second Line Beer at a cash bar, and lots of great folks!
We also encourage everyone who participates to become a Bike Easy Member. May is Membership Month!
Starting at City Park, the ride will roll down Esplanade to Galvez to St. Bernard Ave to N. Rampart and onto Elysian Fields where our first stop is at Doerr Furniture. From there we head down Elysian Fields to Decatur, cross the French Quarter on Decatur, head up Canal to Baronne St through the CBD, come back on O’Keefe and jump over to Basin Street, where we’ll have our second stop at Magnolia Yoga Studio. After a brief stretch, we’ll head back down Basin to Common / Tulane Ave, ride up to Galvez, the make our way all the way up Canal to Bernadotte where we’ll head into Second Line Brewing for the After Party!
The pace is 7-10 mph (which anyone can do) with two stops. It’s a fundraiser, and a great opportunity to become a Bike Easy member to support our work year-round, get a great t-shirt and see the city as it was meant to be seen: by bicycle.
Want to help volunteer leading up to or during the event? Let us know here or email Heather at firstname.lastname@example.org for details and to be assigned a role. Many volunteers still ride!
