Neighborhood Organizing: Central City Canvass - CANCELLED

Sat, Oct 07, 2017
8:00 – 11:00 am

Across the country, local biking & walking committees have become proven vehicles for residents to improve their neighborhood streets. When even a small group of residents are committed and organized, real and lasting changes can be realized to how streets are used, their design, and infrastructure.

Here in New Orleans, we’re now a national leader in the number of residents biking and walking, but unfortunately, we’re also a leader in the amount of streets and sidewalks in disrepair. Far too many bikers and walkers are in daily danger of a life-threatening encounter with an automobile. There’s more each of us can do to make a change on the streets we use every day.

At Bike Easy, we’re moving to foster the creation of neighborhood biking and walking committees across Greater New Orleans. First up, on Wednesday, October 18th at YAYA Arts Center, we’re hosting a community meeting focused on organizing a committee in Central City. For that meeting to be a success, we need to inform a critical mass of residents.

Help us recruit local bikers and walkers to come out to the meeting by canvassing the neighborhood Saturday, October 7th, from 10 am – 1 pm.

Come with a friend to the Bike Easy office. We’ll canvass the neighborhood with information in hand, knocking on doors, and recruiting leaders to be the spokespeople for their neighborhood streets!
