As part of City Year’s MLK Day of Service, Bike Easy Instructors will lead a community workshop on traffic safety and maintenance. This workshop will be part of a larger program led by volunteers including a health fair, community gardening and beautification projects, a Bike Easy Youth Rodeo and Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) mechanics station.

The safety & mechanics workshop will cover the basics of bike maintenance, safe riding tips, and participants will leave with an expanded knowledge of how to diagnose problems on their bikes. Open to all experience levels, we will work in groups to practice hands-on maintenance. We’ll also have a short discussion about bike fit, equipment, preferred routes and rules of the road.

Participants are welcome to bring their own bikes, though we may not have a chance to work on every bike in the workshop. The YEP youth mechanics station will also be able to help with minor repairs.

Please register here prior to the workshop.
