Bike Commute Challenge, April 11-20 *EXTENDED*

Ride to work, inspire others to ride, win prizes

10–20 Apr 2016

Throughout Greater New Orleans

FREE, and you may actually start enjoying your commute

The Bicycle Commute Challenge, held during NOLA Bike to Work Week, helps encourage people to commute by bicycle. For many people, riding a bike to work is cheaper, healthier, and easier than driving, and Bike to Work Week gives everyone the opportunity to discover the joy of biking to work. Whether you’re already an everyday rider or your bike has been gathering dust for years, Bike to Work Week is for you! By getting together to celebrate riding to work, we help build the bicycling community, make the roads safer for people biking, and show our political strength. Join us!

The Bike Commute Challenge has been extended to Wednesday, April 20th!

Pledge to Ride

Bike Easy is challenging everyone to ride to work at least once between April 11th and April 20th. Every day that you participate and log your ride during that week, you’ll be entered into a drawing for prizes like Niterider bike lights, Bike Easy swag, gift certificates to local businesses and more! Register here.

Ride with a Workplace Team

Bond with your colleagues over discussions of your rides to work, motivate each other to keep riding, and compete against other companies for bragging rights and prizes! When you register, select your team from the drop-down menu. Your workplace isn’t listed? See below for more info on becoming a Team Captain.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in each of the following categories:

  • Most total number of rides, overall
  • Largest number of first-time bike commuters who participate
  • Largest team
  • Most total number of rides, categories
    —— 1-10 employees
    —— 11-30 employees
    —— 31 – 100 employees
    —— 100 + employees

Become a Team Captain

Team Captains are at the heart of Bike to Work Week. Team Captains recruit their co-workers to ride, distribute helpful safety and commuting information, make sure teammates are logging their rides, and enjoy the spoils of victory (i.e. cool prizes) when their team wins.

Being a Team Captain is fun and easy, and Bike Easy will provide the training, materials, and support to be successful. Register here and your team will appear on the sign up form drop-down menu within 24 hours.

Winning teams and their Captains will be recognized at the Bike Commuter Happy Hour on Tuesday, April 19th. Team Captains that set specific goals (i.e. get my boss to ride!) and meet them will also receive prizes.
