Join us at City Hall on Tuesday, July 22 at 10:00 AM to stand up for a safer St. Claude Avenue.

Nearly two years ago, we launched the Safer St. Claude Campaign to push for real changes on this dangerous corridor. We’ve held meetings, shared data, and gathered community input. Yet despite all this, the response from local and state leaders has been minimal.

At the site of the fatal crash that killed Michael Milam, a “die-in” was organized by Critical Mass New Orleans, Monday, July 14.

And now, we’re grieving the loss of Michael Milam—killed on St. Claude in a tragic hit-and-run on July 12 while biking. His death was preventable. It should never have happened.
We can’t let this moment pass without action.

Next week, on Tuesday, July 22 at 10:00 AM, we’ll present the campaign to the City’s Transportation Committee. Joining us will be Mike Ince from the Office of Nighttime Economy, who has been a key partner in pushing for improvements.

But we need you—your presence, your voice, your support—especially at the City Council meeting on July 22.

Here’s how you can help:

🚲 Tell your story—why safe streets matter to you and your loved ones

We know St. Claude Avenue is more than just a state highway. It’s where people live, work, visit family, shop, bike, and walk – and every person on that street deserves to get home safely.

Michael’s death was a tragedy—but also a call to act with urgency and compassion. This week’s “die-in” organized by Critical Mass New Orleans made that painfully clear: we can’t wait for another life to be lost.

Let’s show up for Michael. Let’s show up for each other. Let’s make St. Claude safer for all.

In solidarity,
