Get involved today!

Bike Easy works to share the joy of bicycling and make it an easy choice for everyone through advocacy, education, and community events and our ability to reach a large audience would be impossible without the help of dedicated volunteers. In the wake of the Esplanade tragedy during Mardi Gras, Bike Easy continues to receive an inspiring amount of calls and emails from community members asking what they can do to support better biking in New Orleans.

Whether you are a regular volunteer or are signing up for your first event, we need your support to continue working to make bicycling easy, safe, and fun for everyone in Greater New Orleans. The Bike Easy Volunteer Newsletter lists upcoming opportunities for you to get involved.

And if you know someone who would like to volunteer, forward them this email and they can sign up below.

REGISTER FOR COMPLETE STREETS AMBASSADOR TRAINING

We’re calling on the City of New Orleans to plan and build connected, protected bikeway networks. We need your help to engage residents about how safe, protected bikeways can work best for them, their families and neighborhoods. Identify and speak with local leaders from churches, youth organizations, and neighborhood associations. Plan community events that encourage people to get on a bike when protected bikeways open in their neighborhood!

Register today as a Complete Streets Ambassador to make New Orleans streets built to be shared by everyone. Make sure the needs of people who bike and walk are heard!

Bike Easy’s Complete Streets Ambassador program begins with mandatory training on Sunday, March 24 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm covering advocacy tactics, the local political climate of biking in the Greater New Orleans region, and how to effectively advocate on the local level.

HELP IN THE BIKE EASY OFFICE

BIKE EASY CHALLENGE

Stop by the Bike Easy office at 2100 Oretha Castle Haley to grab Bike Easy Challenge flyers. Put them up at cafes, restaurants, or your gym! Let’s make this the 2019 Bike Easy Challenge the biggest one yet!

Are you registered for the Bike Easy Challenge?

You and your team earn points for every mile you ride, every day you ride, and for every person you encourage to sign up (they don’t have to be in your team – they just have to log a ride in the Bike Easy Challenge!). The points system has been carefully selected to ensure a fair and exciting competition and to strongly encourage teams to engage new riders if they want to climb the leaderboard and secure victory.

You’ll compete against other teams of comparable sizes. Ride anywhere, anytime for just 10 minutes to participate. We will announce random prizes every week in April for various categories like new riders, top encouragers, or rides logged. The more often you log rides and encourage others to log their rides, the more likely you are to win a prize!

You’ve got all month (April 1-30) to get out and earn points!
