Get involved with Bike Easy!

In 2018, people volunteering with Bike Easy installed over 2 miles of pop-up protected bikeways, encouraged friends and colleagues to get on their bikes during the Bike Easy Challenge, passed out information at community events, helped with bike repair at maintenance workshops, and a whole lot more!

There’s more ground to cover in 2019 and we’ll need your help. Sign up below to receive this newsletter in your inbox!

BIKE EASY VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: BRIAN GUILLOT

Every year Bike Easy honors a volunteer and their impact on biking in Greater New Orleans. This year Bike Easy presented the Bike Easy Volunteer of the Year to Brian Guillot! Brian began volunteering with Bike Easy by attending a drop-in session at our office, then came out and helped us build the Kenner Pop-Up Bikeway on Loyola Drive. His enthusiasm for improving biking safety grew with the Connect the Crescent, where he was present every step of the way. At outreach events to canvassing to showing up every day for installation, and advocating for Connect the Crescent as a resident of the CBD, Brian was an amazing source of support. Thank you, Brian!

CONNECT THE CRESCENT VOLUNTEERING BY THE NUMBERS

Volunteers: 212

Hours given: 1,003

Bikeways installed: Over 2.55 miles

Everyday New Orleans citizens committed to making biking and walking an everyday choice for everybody in every neighborhood came out in the heat, the rain, and built 2.5 miles of protected bikeways. Volunteers were the centerpiece of a transformative collaboration between citizens, a small non-profit, and our city government. Over 200 volunteers built something special for the entire community and did so at a cost of roughly ZERO local tax dollars.

Thanks for taking the lead and thanks for being out there with us. We’re just getting started.
