To the Bike Easy Community

As the discussion of bike lane build-outs continues to remain a focus for constituents; it is important to continue reminding council members of the benefits that protected bike lanes bring.  Tomorrow, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM The City Council will hold a virtual meeting, and we want your support of the bike network to be heard.  We want to ensure our voices are heard and all stakeholders have an opportunity to weigh in. We’re asking our supporters to share comments in advance and join the meeting if you’re available.

Amongst the many resolutions to be presented tomorrow, Resolution 43 particularly addresses the biking community:

RESOLUTION – NO. R-22-48 – BY: COUNCILMEMBER KING Brief:

Directing the Community Development Committee, to request input from individual stakeholders regarding the continued need for protected bike lanes on certain streets in Algiers and also to establish a more robust review policy for current and future bike lanes; and to report back to the Council with recommendations within six (6) months regarding recommendations for further actions. Annotation: ELECTRONICALLY SUBMITTED. (Council Rule 34. Postponement Deadline 5/20/22).

As the new Council Members assume their new roles, we want to ensure our voices are heard and all stakeholders have an opportunity to weigh in to the decisions that will affect us in the long run. We’re asking our supporters for two things:

As a member of the Bike community, will you help to rewrite the narrative of why Complete Streets are important to you?

Sincerely,

Allene La Spina
Acting Executive Director
