ALGIERS PRELIMINARY DESIGN MEETINGS

The Mayor’s Office of Transportation and the Department of Public Works invite Algiers residents to review preliminary designs on the proposed expanded bikeway network in their neighborhood with meetings on Thursday, Aug. 22, and Wednesday, Aug. 28. Come out to show your support for better mobility and to make sure the developing plans work for your neighborhood!

COMPLETE STREETS AMBASSADOR TRAINING

Biking and walking improvements will be successful when our friends and neighbors understand the benefits they bring. Help us make that happen by signing up as a Complete Streets Ambassador! Work with the New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition to spread the word, educate the public, and enlist supporters in making biking, walking, and more equitable transportation accessible across our communities.

Upcoming Ambassador Trainings:

  • Thursday, September 5th – 5pm – 8pm
  • Saturday, September 7th – 10am – 1pm

 

Both training sessions will take place at Greater New Orleans Foundation – Center for Philanthropy, 919 St. Charles Ave.

TEACHER TRAFFIC SKILLS TRAINING

On Saturday, September 14, Bike Easy will teach basic bike and pedestrian safety education for teachers. Safe Routes to School P.E. Teacher Traffic Skills Training focuses on teaching elementary and middle school students. The workshop will be taught by Bike Easy instructors who are certified League of American Bicyclist Cycling Instructors.

This class is free and reserved for educators.

NEW LINKS PUBLIC MEETING

New Links is a yearlong project to study and develop a plan to redesign the public transportation network in Greater New Orleans. The Regional Planning Commission will explain the network redesign process, discuss service trade-offs, and gather feedback from the public at a public meeting Thursday, August 22 6 pm – 7:30 pm at the Jazz & Heritage Foundation (1205 N Rampart St, New Orleans 70116).
