Low-stress Bikeways Coming to a Street Near You

Bike Easy Action Alert

We’re eagerly anticipating the release next week of the City of New Orleans’ proposed city-wide low-stress bikeway network! These bikeways will reach every corner of Orleans Parish with a mix of protected bikeways, bike boulevards, new pedestrian crosswalks, and transit improvements.

If you care about biking in New Orleans, you NEED to come out to these meetings, to learn the City’s goals and to provide invaluable feedback. Please RSVP here to let us know you’ll attend any of three events where the Office of Transportation will share a draft of the low-stress network –

  • Algiers Regional Library – Wednesday, July 31st, 6-730pm
  • New Orleans East Regional Library – Monday, August 5th, 6-730pm
  • New Orleans Public Library, Main Branch – August 8th, 6-730pm

We’re excited for what safe, low-stress bikeways will mean for improved health, safety, and quality of life when all of our residents have more affordable, accessible ways to travel to parks, grocery stores, to school and to work. With more thoughtful designs that make our streets built to be shared among people driving, walking, biking, and riding transit, New Orleans will become a more equitable city while reducing conflicts caused by unclear rules of the road, allowing all of us to get where we need to go more safely.

Please join us over these next two weeks to see a glimpse of the very near future of biking and transportation in New Orleans!
