| Happy Friday! It’s been a minute since I sent you a personal note, so here it goes: Today marks the 2 month anniversary of my bike buddies gifting me an e-bike. I was hesitant at first, but at their insistence and argument that I shouldn’t show up to City Council Chamber sweaty, I am happy to report that I’ve logged over 200 miles since I got it. It has been a total game changer for my daily commute, and running errands – especially in this weather – has become way easier. And don’t worry, I still ride my road bike: after all, we have logged way more miles together. Apart from celebrating the amazing support from my buddies, I want to take a moment to acknowledge our amazing Board Members and Staff who continue to show up consistently to our events and have made this a year of exponential growth for the organization!
And now to what this email really is about 🙂 Today is the last day to fill in the city’s Safe Streets for All survey and Interactive Map! Your voice will help shape the Safety Action Plan that prioritizes safe and comfortable transportation options for every New Orleanian. Also, DOTD will be holding a Open House Public Meeting for the Broad St Pedestrian Improvements Project next Thursday, June 26 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 2626 Canal Street (2nd Floor) New Orleans, LA 70119. This meeting will be held to discuss proposed striping changes that would convert Broad St into a four-lane, median-divided roadway with bike lanes. The inclusion of this bike lane in the six-block segment between Tulane Avenue and Bienville Street would connect the existing bike paths on both ends and provide a safer route from the Uptown neighborhood to Mid-City and Gentilly. Last, but not least, if you are a current Bike Easy Member, keep an eye out on your mailbox – Sending you a special something in the next two weeks to show our appreciations for your continued support 😉 !
