Happy New Year! And happy beginning of Mardi Gras Season!  It’s been a very busy first week of the year: We’ve been

  • Drafting our plans for 2026, including our programming priorities,
  • Organizing the office,
  • Lining up new volunteer opportunities to activate our community,
  • Prepping tax letters for all donations made for 2026, including the ones for our Sustaining Members

And so much more!  In the meantime, take note of upcoming events so you can block them in your calendar and join us!

All In For Our Culture Festival – Saturday, January 10

We’re excited to announce that we were selected to participate in this big celebration and you can find Carlos Stich (NEW Board Chair) and I there that day.  Come by and say hello, learn more about our programming, and learn more about how you can be involved with our work.  We will be at Lafayette Square from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

SPARK-Light Up St Claude – Saturday, January 10

SPARK: Light Up Safer St. Claude is a community-led event co-produced by Bike Easy and BYMBO to build momentum for life-saving safety improvements on one of New Orleans’ most dangerous corridors in this city.  After successfully pushing City Council to call for a LaDOTD traffic safety study—now set to begin this year—this event brings neighbors together to share lived experiences, shape solutions, and keep pressure on decision-makers. Join us and support our vision for a Safer St Claude.  A special presentation and Call to Action will take place at Saturn Bar from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  For more information, click here

Bike Maintenance & Safety Workshop – Sunday, January 18th

This free workshop will focus on the basics of bike maintenance, and participants will leave with an expanded knowledge of how to diagnose problems on their bikes.  We’ll also have short discussion of commuting basics, safe riding tips and being a vehicle on the road. Instructors will be happy to answer questions about bike fit, equipment, and rules of the road.  Join us and get your bikes ready for Mardi Gras Season.  For more information, and to RSVP, click here.
