It’s been a busy last couple of weeks, and I promise this time I won’t be so text heavy with my email 🙂 I have been good about biking almost every day as I continue to train for Tour Da Parish, and it has also been a great way to get around to meet with different community partners around the city as we prepare for a very busy Fall! Some highlights from the last couple weeks were:
- Attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for one of the 2 new Blue Bikes’ Stations expanding the service area to Xavier University.
- Moved a portion of our bike fleet to New Harmony in preparation for our partnership with them this Fall.
- Hosted our Policy & Design Committee Meeting with one of our highest attendance to date! If you are interest in learning more about these meetings click here – These meetings are open to the public, and if you decide to get more involved, let’s talk about you becoming a member!
And that is not all, we are also launching our Board Recruitment Season!
Our current Board has been really engaged with our work, and their support has been key to address challenges and opportunities that have come our way in the last few years. I am personally grateful for all they do, and looking forward to bringing some new folks into the mix that will continue to make our work stronger. Read all the fine print about it here! If you are interested in becoming an integral part of our Leadership, I highly encourage to apply by sending your resume and cover letter to info@bikeeasy.org – Deadline to apply is Friday, September 20th at 5 pm. If you know of someone who would be a great fit: please forward to them!
Some other ways to engage with our organization are:
Join us as we celebrate the opening of the new bridge on North Gayoso and the Lafitte Greenway on Thursday, August 22nd at 9:00 am! This project is really exciting and it was made possible by property owner NOLA 4 Rent and NFT Group who made this connection possible for our community. We will have coffee, donuts, and more info on how you can get involved with projects going forward. RSVP here
Sign up for the inaugural The Not-So-Easy Bike Easy Scavenger Hunt!
This event is sponsored by Dirty Coast and is taking place on Saturday, September 21st from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a start and end at The Jazz Museum. We’re encouraging folks to sign up as teams of 3-5 either as a workplace, friends, family or anything you can imagine. Teams of 3 can sign up for 60.00, of 4 for 70.00 and of 5 for 80.00! And it all goes to a great cause: making bicycling easy, safe, and fun for everyone in Greater New Orleans. To read more and to register click here.
Consider sponsoring this year’s Bicycle Second Line! This year our celebration will be the biggest to date: We will start and end at the Broadside with a big after party! We are also bringing back our Silent Auction, so if that is more down your alley, read more about it here. Pre-Registration and T-shirt Sales launch on August 19th!
Last, but not least, I encourage you to attend our Get Rolling Back to School Family Biking Workshop & Ride at Audubon Park on Sunday, August 25th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. To learn more and to register, click here
Thank y’all for sending me links as I continue to prep the Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference. Keep them coming!
Have a beautiful weekend, and remember to hydrate if y’all get out on your bikes!
