A week ago we DID IT! We raised over 20K together for Bike Easy during Give Nola Day!  We raised 21,156.00 and some more through our own site.  We’re still tallying the numbers, and also updating people’s membership information, so please be patient with us – especially if you are receiving automatic reminders to renew your membership.  As always, feel free to drop me a line if you’re unsure of your membership status.

I was really pleased with how successful this year’s Give Nola day campaign was, and spent some time reflecting why we did so good this year.   It was certainly due to many factors including the amazing job the Staff continues to do in delivering and developing our programs, the solid involvement of our Board Members, and the mindful effort we’ve made to share our wins throughout the year.  While I believe our nudges on social media leading up to, and during Give Nola Day itself help; I honestly think the work really happens the other 364 days of the year.  As a community organizer, I believe in the importance of planting seeds in the community, and this year the community showed up BIG for our organization – THANK YOU!And since now I am convinced that secret lays in the work the rest of the year, here are some VERY important events coming up!

Ride to Remember – 5.18.25

Building upon last year’s success, we invite you to join us for the second annual Ride to Remember: a free event highlighting bike safety and honoring loved ones lost to fatal bike crashes.  We will have activities for the whole family, including a bike course for kids to practice their riding skills, a ceremony to honor those lives lost, a couple memorial rides around the cemetery, resources from different partners including Bike Law, Ghost Bikes, Look Before you Open, Blue Bikes, the New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition and more.  We will also have coffee and light snacks generously donated by The Station, a limited amount of event t-shirts for sale, and really excited to announce we will also have  a lagniappe bike tour at the end of the event to learn more about this beautiful space.  For more information, and to RSVP, click here and if you would like to lend us a hand, please click here

Traffic Safety & Mobility Summit – 5.17.25

Help shape New Orleans Safety Action Plan by participating in the first – of we hope many – community meetings this Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 am to 12 pm at the UMC Conference Center (2000 Canal Street).  For more information and to register, click here. If you are unable to attend, please fill out their survey and contribute to their interactive map

And a little lagniappe – We will be hosting a People Friendly Driving Session right after the event (same location).  For more information, and to register, click here

Clase de Mantenimiento de Bicicletas – 5.22.25

You read that right – or at least in Spanish 🙂 I will be co-teaching with Matt Hinson (Board Member) a maintenance class in Spanish on Thursday, May 22nd from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.  This is a dream come true for our organization, and we hope it helps us expand our work in the Latino community.  Para más información, y para registrarseclick here

Last, but not least, note that Wednesday at the Square has their last event tonight (re-scheduled from last week), and we will be there with our bike valet services.  And if you are interested in participating in our next youth to Learn Ride class, we will be holding the next one on June 7th (more information here.)

Appreciate you reading all the way through the end!  The last month has been extremely hectic for me, and cannot thank you enough for continue to support our work!

In Service,

Allene La Spina
