As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible strides Bike Easy has made this year – and we couldn’t have done it without your support!  Thanks to your help, we were able to:

  • Continue offering our programming throughout the region
  • Diversify our funding by securing 13 out of 23 grants applied for in 2024 — That is a great number for a non profit of our size!
  • Launch new events like the Not-So-Easy Bike Easy Scavenger Hunt (a fundraiser in partnership with Dirty Coast), Ride to Remember, and grow our Bicycle Second Line to include an after party at the Broadside featuring local bands and artists
  • Pass a bill for a specialty License Plate to benefit Bike Easy
  • Represent Louisiana at national events like the Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference, and the League of American Bicyclists National Bike Summit, and so much more!

End-of-Year Fundraising: Your Support Powers our Move

We’re thrilled to announce that Bike Easy will be moving into our new space in Mid-City this coming weekend! We’re really excited to have a new hub where we can better serve our community and continue advocating for easy, safe, and fun bicycling for everyone in Greater New Orleans.  But we need your help to make this new dream space a reality!

Visualization of our new space, which we will share with the Lafitte Greenway Partnership!

Every donation made this week will go toward making our new office space a welcoming and functional home for Bike Easy.  Your contribution will help us secure: 2 new workstations, office chairs, conference seating, 2 monitors, a new printer, and additional storage.  Happy to discuss in kind donations if they fit the current specs of our needs – so feel free to reply to this email to discuss.   And the best part of it? Since we’re a non profit, your donations are tax deductible.

Calling All Movers and Shakers

Can you lend a hand? We’re organizing 2 moving days: Sunday, January 5th and Monday, January 6th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm – We would love some extra muscles to transport boxes, furniture, and gear.  If you are available to help, please click on this link and fill in your availability, and we will reach out with more details.

Advocacy Updates: Big Wins and What’s Ahead

2024 has been a banner year for bike advocacy!  Highlights include:

Bike Easy’s 2025 Plans

Next year is set to be transformative! Our priorities include:

  • Expanding our Education programs: Reaching more schools, workplaces, and community groups to teach bike safety and encourage more folks to bike.  If you are interested in becoming an Education partner, please contact Laura Harris at laura@bikeeasy.org
  • Deepening our Advocacy efforts: Advocating for equitable transportation policies, expansion of a low-stress bike network, and continue to grow campaigns like Safer St Claude, Daylighting and Safety Sunday Bikeway Cleanups
  • Growing Community Engagement: Hosting the Not-So-Easy Bike Easy Scavenger Hunt on April 19th, Ride to Remember on May 18th, BIKE Talks in early Fall, and the 2025 Bicycle Second Line on November 8th amongst others!  Make sure to mark your calendars so you can come and celebrate the biking community together
  • Strengthening our organization: Settling into our new office and building capacity to better serve the Greater New Orleans region
  • Bike Easy Census: This year, we will be launching our Census which aims to update our member’s information and priorities, and also get a better grasp of folks’ needs in our community to help make biking easy, safe and fun for everyone.  Our efforts will include doing an inventory of EVERY bike facility in the city so we can report out on our current state and begin making recommendations for improvements.  If you are interested in helping out in this particular effort, please reply to this email and let me know

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey.  Your support, time, and passion fuel everything we do at Bike Easy.  Let’s keep pedaling into the new year!

Wishing you joy and safe riding.

In Service.
