#IBikeNola Bikeway - St Bernard BIkeway Installation
29–30 Jul 2017
1200 St Bernard Ave
New Orleans, LA 70116
As part of our push to bring streets built to share to every neighborhood in New Orleans, Bike Easy is installing a ‘pop-up’ protected bikeway on St Bernard Avenue this Saturday and Sunday July 29/30th. RSVP here come lend a hand and a couple of hours to show your neighbors and our local leaders how affordable, practical changes can make biking, walking, and driving safer for everyone on the road.
The bikeway is located between Rampart Street and Claiborne Avenue. It will provide protection for riders along a busy thoroughfare and do much to improve safety and peace of mind for commuters from the 7th Ward, Gentilly, and neighborhoods along City Park, up to the lakefront and UNO.This is the first in a series of short-run “pop-up” projects to demonstrate how New Orleans streets can be made safe for everyone who uses them. Turning painted lanes into a protected bikeways, adding crosswalks at dangerous intersections, or rest areas at empty transit stops, these installation will be temporary but our hope is to showcase practical ways to improve biking and walking infrastructure across the city.
Invite your friends and come with clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting a little bit of paint on.. We’ll take care of the rest!
This Event is part of Bike Easy’s Advocacy Project.
