Come out to Bike Easy’s campaign kickoff event to help Connect the Crescent with streets built to share for all the people of Greater New Orleans. It’s going to be a busy year, so let’s get together to plan out how we make sure that biking around the city is safe and equitable for all – no matter where we live, how much we earn, or how we go about getting around town.
That’s why we’re pushing hard for streets built to share for every neighborhood in Greater New Orleans. Adequate Sidewalks. Better Crosswalks. Protected Bike Paths. Covered Bus Stops. Access for Disabled Residents. These things keep all of us safe. They make us healthier. They improve equity and support our most vulnerable communities.
We need a strong and transparent Complete Streets policy that provides every neighborhood with a full set of transportation options to get safely to where they need to go—work, school, the library, the grocery store, or to a park.
Related to the push for Complete Streets, we’re also pushing for a connected network of continuous paths to bike and walk that are safe and accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Connecting across neighborhoods, across parish lines, across bridges and major roadways. Much has been done to improve the city’s biking and walking infrastructure, and now it’s time to connect our neighborhoods so that biking is a safe and reasonable option across all of Greater New Orleans. Come out to help craft the strategy details and get the campaign rolling!
