Keep in the know with Bike Easy!

LOOKING FORWARD

This fall, Connect the Crescent showcased the concept of a connected, protected biking, walking, and transit network. The idea was simple: make it easy, safe, and accessible for local residents to commute between their home and jobs downtown. Conversations were started, valuable data was collected, and a wealth of community feedback was generated for public officials ahead of forthcoming permanent, protected bikeway installations across the city. We are in the midst of using this information to assemble a report to share what we learned with you.

In the meantime, check out the video of Blake, Frank, and Hannah taking us on a tour of the Connect the Crescent network and telling us why it matters.

P.S. share this video…

  • With your friends!
  • With the Mayor and City Council (tell them why it matters and tag them when you share the video on your social media e.g.- mayorcantrell, HelenaMorenoLA, RunWithJason, CmGiarrusso, cmjayhbanks, kgislesonpalmer, JaredCBrossett, vote4Cyndi)
  • Add a comment and show your support using #connectthecrescent

ENVISIONING BETTER BIKING IN JEFFERSON PARISH

Complete Streets Ambassador, Michelle O’Flynn, makes it work every day as she bikes across safe and unsafe streets with a visual disability. She shows us her daily ride while explaining how it could be easier, for her and for everyone, to bike safely on our local streets.

VOICE SUPPORT FOR COMPLETE STREETS IN JEFFERSON PARISH

Jefferson Parish should adopt a Complete Streets policy to make sure the parish prioritizes street designs that are safe for bikers of all ages and abilities. Councilmembers say they need to hear more from our supporters and partners, so let’s show them that we support safer and more accessible biking and walking! Please call 504-608-3461 or send an email to voice your support for the passing of a Complete Streets policy in Jefferson Parish! A phone call script and email instructions are included in our blog post.
