2018 Spring Bicycle Second Line!

Photos and recap.

The Bicycle Second Line brings together people from all groups, riding abilities, and styles. Riders participate in a pedal-powered version of the musical second line parades that weave through the streets of New Orleans. At this year’s event, we saw road bikes, cruisers, fat tire bikes, and even a tricycle with a basket large enough to fit a poodle! Community events like the Bicycle Second Line give people a chance to participate in a group bike ride when they might otherwise feel uncomfortable about riding on the road. We hope that these events will encourage people on bike to continue riding.

There is no age limit for the Bicycle Second Line and we even saw a young boy ride his tricycle the entirety of the 10-mile ride. He was tuckered out by the end and earned a nap in his mother’s lap during the after party.

May is Membership Month and the Bicycle Second Line acts as a Membership drive for Bike Easy. The first 100 Members to arrive or register get a free t-shirt! Bike Easy has many supporters who try to collect a t-shirt every year. This year we had 91 new or renewing Members and raised $3,000!

We are celebrating Bike Easy’s 15th anniversary this year and encouraged riders to dress up. Take a look at some of the great costumes!
