Sign the petition to Mayor Cantrell—New Orleans needs a strong Complete Streets policy!

Through her time as an advocate in Broadmoor and New Orleans City Councilmember, LaToya Cantrell has been a champion for the needs of people who bike and walk.

As she takes office, we’re excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. Now it’s up to us, the citizens of New Orleans, to keep speaking up for the future we want to see for ourselves and for the next generation.

Take a moment to sign Bike Easy’s petition welcoming Mayor LaToya Cantrell to office and asking her to update the Complete Streets policy for New Orleans — for improved safety, increased health equity, higher design standards, and added mobility options for every resident in our city.

There’s reason to be hopeful. Keith Holt, Bike Easy Community Education Manager (pictured here, center), sat on the Cantrell transition subcommittee for transportation and recommended a series of ambitious, yet practical, actions to secure a future of safe, accessible biking for every resident of New Orleans. We’re thrilled with the biking and walking focused recommendations included in the Forward Together report –

  • Creating a Mayor’s Office of Transportation
  • Updating the City’s Complete Streets Policy
  • Creating a ‘Bikeway Blueprint’ – a comprehensive plan for a city-wide network of protected bikeways

These are wonderful recommendations! Now it’s up to us to push for these (and other) great ideas to become reality for a future of easy, safe, and fun biking for every resident of New Orleans. — Sign the petition today!
