Join our Complete Streets Ambassadors! Spring Training
Help advocate for streets built to share for all.
The momentum created for streets built to share in Greater New Orleans in 2017 would not have been possible without the great work done by last year’s Complete Streets Ambassadors. Local residents who wanted to get involved improving biking and walking in their community signed up, took part in advocacy training, and then hit the ground running! Last year ambassadors helped plan and install a pop-up bike lane on St. Bernard Ave, met with Jefferson and Orleans Parish council-members, worked to grow support from local businesses and organizations and so much more. While our 2017 team of ambassadors have formally ended their program, they will stay connected with Bike Easy and continue to work with us on projects they are passionate about within their communities.
The ambassador program in 2018 begins this spring with a two-day weekend training on March 3rd and 4th. With ongoing road construction in New Orleans and millions of dollars slated for bike and pedestrian projects in Jefferson Parish, this is a crucial time for community leaders to step up and have their voices heard to ensure that our streets are built to share. When they are, we know kids and adults lead healthier lives and communities are made more equitable. The ambassador program provides basic organizing tools and support for community residents to pursue a project within their community, as well as to work together as a team on a larger Bike Easy-led project.
