Congrats to Bicycle Commute Challenge Winners, and Thank You to all who participated!

NOLA Bike to Work Week by the Numbers

Looking back at our inaugural week of NOLA Bike to Work events, we are wowed by how many folks came out to participate in this week of bicycling events.

Here is NOLA Bike to Work Week by the numbers:

  • 1,015 trips logged over the 8 day Bicycle Commute Challenge
  • Over 1,000 participants engaged with us throughout the week – at our Let’s Roll Community Forum, Bicycle Commuter Happy Hour, morning Bike to Work Day events, and more
  • 250 bike lights distributed through Bike Light Outreach events
  • 125 folks attended the Central Morning Meetup in Lafayette Square
  • 35 workplaces signed up Team Captains for the Bicycle Commute Challenge
  • 5 neighborhood bike trains leading into the Central Morning Meetup

THANK YOU!

We have many folks to thank for helping to make NOLA Bike to Work Week a success!

First of all – Entergy has been our presenting sponsor for the fourth year in a row, and this event simply would not be possible without their generous and continued support. Our two new sponsors this year, Bike Law and NiteRider Technical Lighting Systems, helped us to grow this into a full week of events.

We are also grateful to PJ’s Coffee, Pinkberry, J&B and Bayou Bicycles, Grand Isle Restaurant, Bike the Big Easy, Café Degas, Whole Foods, Laurel Street Bakery, and Bicycle World of LA – who provided support to help make Bike to Work Week possible. Thank you!

Finally, thank YOU for participating!

BICYCLE COMMUTE CHALLENGE RESULTS

We had 35 participating businesses in our Bicycle Commute Challenge – and around 400 individuals! In addition to the daily raffles that folks were entered into each day they logged their trips, we recognized the highest participation in partnering workplaces. These workplace teams were chaired by Workplace Team Captains, who signed up folks, spread the word, and encouraged folks in their workplaces to log their trips each day.

We’re excited to recognize their efforts – and workplaces with a high rate of bicycle commuting!
