We are bringing Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety to 4th & 5th grade classes throughout New Orleans

Launched in February 2015, Bike Easy’s Walk & Roll to School program is helping the next generation of NOLA bicyclists learn and practice skills they need to be safe on their bikes! In partnership with the Tulane University Prevention Research Center and several schools throughout the city, we are bringing Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety to 4th & 5th grade classes throughout New Orleans.

With our new fleet of kids bikes, helmets, and the help of amazing PE/enrichment teachers, Bike Easy is working hard to grow the bicycle culture of New Orleans to include our youth riders. We are proud to be working on this exciting initiative with the following schools this spring: ReNew Schaumberg, Phyllis Wheatley, Sylvanie Williams College Prep, Medard Nelson, Success Prep, ARISE Academy, Andrew Wilson School.

Bike Easy will also assist each participating school to hold an event for families on a “Walk & Roll to School Day” during the City-wide bike and walk to school week of May 11-15, 2015. More information will be available about the May 11-15 Walk & Roll to School week and related activities including a kickoff 5k bike ride on May 9 as we get closer to the dates. For more information on this program, please contact Virginia Brisley, Bike Easy School Programs Coordinator, at virginia (a) bikeeasy.org.
