Help Us Fundraise for our Youth Bike Fleet!
It’s not too late to donate to help our education programs!
Donate to our Youth Bike Fleet
Bike Easy is raising money for our Youth Bike Fleet – 15 bikes and a trailer to transport them – which we’ll use in schools and community settings around the region to spread the message of safe cycling.
About Our Education Programs
Bike Easy has programs for people of all ages, focusing on giving folks the essential skills they need to be safe, smart bicyclists!
Our youth workshops and rodeos introduce kids to the rules of the road, and give them the skills they need to ride their bikes safely through a fun and playful series of activities. We set up a series of exercises for them to practice motor skills; learn about intersections; model signaling on their bikes; and play games such as the snail race and rock dodge. A bike fleet will enable us to significantly expand our educational programs and reach a much larger number of kids in our school and community programs.
Why should you support this initiative?
1. These bikes will be used to teach pedestrian and bicycle safety to over 2,000 kids in 10+ schools in the 2014-15 school year – and other programs around the region! This is the first multi-school program of its kind, and we are helping to lay out a framework for a broader, more comprehensive program in future school years.
2. Beyond these school programs, we are reaching kids through Bike Rodeos in community partnerships, putting them on bikes to experience their communities in new ways; discussing the benefits of bicycling; and giving them their first introduction to the rules of the road.
3. By reaching kids, we are reaching schools, families and communities. Through these programs, we will be holding a City-wide Walk and Roll to School Week, encouraging families to bike and walk and supporting local efforts to increase safety in School Zones. Furthermore, we are helping schools provide healthy, sustainable, and affordable transportation for their families.
