Advocacy Committee Chair
After graduating from LSU Law school, Matthew served six years as a US Army JAG officer. His last tour was in Washington, D.C. where he enjoyed a daily bicycle commute down the GW Parkway. After leaving the Army he used his GI Bill to attend a bicycle mechanic school in Portland, Oregon and returned to his native New Orleans in 2012. He began volunteering at Bike Easy’s Second Line events and joined the board in 2016. Matthew is currently an associate at Phelps Dunbar LLP.
As someone who rides for fitness and recreation, he is excited about helping to grow New Orleans’ bicycling infrastructure and make the city a safer and more enjoyable place to experience via bicycle. He loves exploring the bayous, levees, and waterways in and around the city on bicycle. In his current role as the chair of Bike Easy’s Advocacy Committee, Matthew is leading Bike Easy’s push for a regional, interconnected system of bikeways made up of high-quality and low-stress infrastructure.
